Cheerleading!

Since I was young I had always played sport. My family loves sport! There was a massive collection of trophies at my Nan's house that my Aunties, Uncles and Mum all won back in the day.

Throughout my childhood I played netball tennis and basketball. I remember my mum had to drag me kicking and screaming to actually go and play for the first time.

I ended up loving sport! During high school I dabbled in something new on any sport day that came along. I tried out clay target shooting, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, athletics, swimming, cross country, hockey, and lawn bowls. I even got the Female sports award at my graduation dinner.

I didn't stop playing sport till the start of this year when I thought I'd have a year off and focus on University. But sport is so addictive! Maybe it's just that competitive streak in me. Training is like fun exercise and although you dread going, afterwards you feel so glad you did.

I had thought about joining the cheerleading club while I was a uni, but I didn't think it would actually happen. If it wasn't for my friend Emily also wanting to join, I probably wouldn't have.

Now I am a very proud co-captain of my team, and with two 1st place trophies out of two competitions, I am pumped for nationals!

Cheerleading is so much fun, and is only getting bigger in Australia. Although it still feels weird getting all dolled up just to get sweaty and gross.
